What is a Chiropractor?

Chiropractors are highly trained in a specialized chiropractic college and are experts in injury diagnosis, injury treatment, exercise prescription, injury prevention, health, nutrition, rehabilitation and many other areas of health and fitness.

What do I need to bring?

Be prepared to provide your previous medical or surgical history. If you have them and if they are relevant bring scan/MRI reports, and list of medications. You may wish to bring comfortable clothes but it's not necessary.

We have  forms to fill out and sign, and have allowed time for this when scheduling you.  Often the doctors are in with patients and  will not have someone at the reception desk. Please ring the bell on the counter and have a seat. We will be with you momentarily.

If you are having custom orthotics made, please bring a pair of shoes that you will be putting the orthotics in. It's alright if you forget as the included fitting visit will allow you to bring the shoes to have the completed orthotics trimmed and fit for you.

How many visits will I need?

The number of treatments will vary depending on the problem and individual. After a thorough assessment of your symptoms, your chiropractor will determine whether you need another visit to stabilize the problem area or to release a locked up joint. Often the treatment plan ranges from 2 times/ week for 2 weeks with another visit a week later, to once a week for 2-3 weeks and a release to start an exercise plan of your own to rehabilitate the injured area. Many people make an ongoing preventative schedule of once a month to stay healthy and pain-free.

What should I wear to my appointment?

You will not be asked to undress but it is suggested that you wear clothes you can relax in for your comfort.

How do I make an appointment?

Appointments are made by phone. Occasionally we are not near the phone, but you can call our office and leave a clear message with your name and phone number. If you do not get the answering machine, call again in a minute or two as someone else is leaving a message at that time. The answering machine is on 24/7 so feel free to call at any time to leave a message. We will call back as soon as we are able during business hours.

Walk-in visits are currently unavailable due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Do I have to be referred by a doctor?

No, chiropractors can assess and treat without referral by a doctor. However some health insurance plans require a doctors referral before they authorize cover of fees, so please call your agent or insurance company to find out whether your plan requires a referral. If you are covered under Samsum Clinic or an IPA, or the new combined United Healthcare/ Medicare/ Sansum plan, we are not covered even with a referral as we are not in this group. We will be able to still see you on a cash basis which eliminates the need for a referral.

Treatment duration depends on your diagnosis, the severity of your injury, your past medical history, and other factors. Often patients will have relief after the first visit and will check in as needed.

We see and treat patients for a wide range of conditions and diagnoses. If a joint or nerve is affected by pain or dysfunction you need to contact our office as soon as possible. This goes for children as well as adults.

Yes, we specialize in sports medicine and chiropractic pediatrics but are also experienced in musculoskeletal issues in all ages and types.

We will check with your health insurance provided to determine if chiropractic services are covered under your plan. We recommend that you first call to confirm your insurance coverage and find out if you need a primary care doctor's referral.

Call the office phone at any time. A message can be left on the voicemail. We will not charge for missed appointments.
